The Uncharted Territory Update is a major update released on September 17th 2022.
A trailer was released on YouTube alongside it.
This update focuses on adding a new Sector 5 sector, with additional mechanics that reflect the show's. Additionally, it also introduces a new waytower model and more actions for waytowers.
This update adds major gameplay changes, mostly regarding NS5 and the Tower model.
Sector 5 is the focus of this update, it has received a major revamp and now offers a fully fledged key system, core mechanics and a functional celestial dome.
The maze in sector 5 will now have multiple exits and keys. Every time you enter Sector 5 while the maze is closed, it will randomly select a key, open the main wall from the arena and start a 10 minute countdown.
During this period of time, you'll have 10 minutes to get the key; when you do, all passages to the celestial dome and tower will open, and the maze will enter a “calm” status. If the timer runs out before you get the key, the maze will enter “grace” status, in which you'll have a limited amount of time to escape to a safe area in Sector 5 (mainly the arena) and getting the key will no longer work.
5 minutes after the key has been pressed, the maze will close again, killing all warriors still lingering inside.
The celestial dome now counts with a revamped interface and new mechanics like vehicles around the digital void.
The interface in the celestial dome will no longer TP you to the surface sector's edge, instead, it will allow you to open tunnels that lead you to the surface sector's Access Waytower. Additionally, it will no longer be able to teleport you to the core, instead, it allows you to retrieve Lyoko Energy in case you don't have enough to summon a vehicle. This vehicle will not have gravity, it will allow you to free fly and reach the core chamber or the open tunnels.
The core has also received a revamp, it will now also include 2 shield models and will have new gameplay attached to it.
XANA will now attempt to attack the core, this can happen regardless of if there's a tower activated or not. When XANA attacks the core, monsters will be summoned in the core room and will chip away at it's shields until it's left unprotected and destroy it. Core Attacks have no warning at startup, therefore you'll have to keep an eye on the new core program, which will tell you when the core is under attack and its health status.
If you weren't paying attention to the core and XANA decided to attack it, don't worry, when the first shield layer goes down, it'll be broadcasted to every player in the server, which means you still have time to get down there and save Lyoko.
However, if you fail to defend it, then every player in Lyoko will be doomed to fall to the digital sea, and the rest of players will get a game over.
Additionaly, if a xanafied player gets to the core, they will be able to start an attack manually.
¶ Towers and Waytowers
Towers and waytowers have gone through a lot of changes in this update. A new waytower model has been implemented into the server, which replaces the old one entirely.
In the new waytower model, there is now 4 waytowers per sector: 1, 4, 8 and 10. All of them can execute Frontier protocols and Code Earth. Additionally, they all now have a cyan halo when deactivated as opposed to the regular tower's blue one.
Surface sectors now have an order they follow for things like waytowers. The order is Desert > Forest > Mountain > Ice
Tower 1 is the Access Waytower, all other waytowers that lead to another sector end up in this one, including Sector 5's tunnels. Access Waytowers don't lead anywhere. Additionally, they possess a gray S-shaped cable on their side.
Towers 4, 8 and 10 are Road Waytowers, they lead to other sector's Access Waytowers. Additionally, they possess a black flat cable on their side.
- Tower 4 will lead you to the next sector (Example: Desert 4 will lead to Forest 1)
- Tower 10 will lead you to the previous sector (Example: Desert 10 will lead to Ice 1)
- Tower 8 will lead you to the sector that's neither (Example: Desert 8 will lead to Mountain 1)
Xana will now be able to redirect waytowers when they're activated.
- A Road Waytower activated by XANA will not lead anywhere, it will loop back to itself.
- An Access Waytower activated by XANA will redirect all the traffic to the next, non activated Road Waytower in the sector. This means you won't exit an Access Waytower activated in a sector unless all waytowers are activated (In order to prevent a sector from becoming inaccessible)
¶ Protocols and Jeremie Activation
From this update onwards, manual tower activation is possible, you'll need to use Energy for it.
This update introduces 3 new placeholder Codes, HANNIBAL, FRONTIER and FETCH.
- HANNIBAL: This code will activate the tower with the player's own energy, leaving it available for other uses. (Using this code while xanafied will cause the tower to become activated by XANA, therefore it can be used as a decoy tower.)
- FRONTIER: This code will start a frontier rescue of a specific player, but only on Jeremie activated waytowers, attempting to use this code in any other situation will fail.
- FETCH: This code will return the running actions of a tower. For example, if a tower is running a frontier rescue, it will return the warrior it's saving and the percent of completion.
Jeremie and Hopper activated waytowers will now also receive monster ambushes. Megatanks will appear to take down the tower, which means that you'll have to protect them if you want to keep them activated and/or running a process.
