A Virtual World is an abstract concept that signifies a collection of sectors. It doesn't have a physical form. A Replika is therefore a virtual world with only one sector.
Currently MRCL has these virtual worlds:
A virtual world can have any number of sectors. Each sector has a number of Towers depending on its type.
Sector | Towers |
---|---|
Forest/Ice/Desert/Mountain | 10 |
Sector Five | 1 |
Volcano | 5 |
Cortex | 1 |
The Volcano Replika has dozens of decorative towers, but only five are real.
Currently, the only way to destroy Lyoko's sectors is to destroy the core located in Sector Five.
When a sector is destroyed, the amount of Energy granted by its towers will become inaccessible and the waytowers that lead to it will become usual neutral towers. That means if Lyoko only has Sector Five and one surface sector left, only 1100 energy will be available and only tower 1 will still be a waytower.
Sector Five's maze timer will also become 2 minutes shorter per surface sector destroyed.
Sectors can be rebuilt using the Sector Builder program, unlocked through Knowledge.
The Digital Sea is the bottom layer of a sector. It's usually a layer of water or lava covering the very bottom of the world.
Falling into the Digital Sea will send you to the Frontier.
Right before hitting the Digital Sea, you will fall slower.
Your Overvehicle will also consume less nitro.
Additionally, it's possible to summon an overvehicle while falling to prevent yourself from falling into the sea.
A Virtual World also serves as the origin of energy. Each virtual world's energy capacity is based on its amount of towers times 100. Lyoko for example has 41 towers, so an energy pool of 4100.
The only exception to this is the Cortex, which holds 500 energy with only one tower.
The Frontier is the space between Earth and Lyoko.
You can be sent there by falling into the Digital Sea or by being devirtualized while having a certain DNA Issue.
Once in there, you will have a timer. If it reaches zero, you will get a game over. However, you can be saved by other players thanks to a waytower or Sector Five's interface.
Every surface sector of Lyoko has an edge.
The edge has an interface that will ask for a password. Upon entering the correct password, a transporter will appear, which will send you to Sector Five.
