¶ XANA
XANA is the main antagonist of MRCL.
Like in Code Lyoko, XANA can activate Towers, launch attacks and create monsters in Virtual Worlds.
¶ Monsters
Monsters are hostile creatures (passive towards xanafied players) that appear in virtual worlds when a tower is activated. They can also spawn randomly near virtualized players.
Currently, there are only five kinds of monsters in the game but more are planned in the Monster Changelog.
¶ Kankrelats
Kankrelats are small, basic monsters that load and shoot one laser at a time. They are the weakest monsters.
¶ Bloks
Bloks are medium-sized monsters that shoot lasers. They spin before shooting.
For now, they only have one type of laser. In the future, they will be able to shoot ice beams and fire rings, as stated in the monster changelog.
¶ Megatanks
Megatanks are big monsters that have two abilities. While they are closed, they can roll and run Lyokowarriors over, instantly devirtualizing them. While they are open, they can charge and shoot a laser beam that can devirtualize you in seconds.
The only way to defeat them is to attack them while they are open, as they're invulnerable while closed. This makes them the strongest monster.
¶ Mantas
Mantas are flying monsters that only appear in Sector Five and the Volcano Replika.
They shoot lasers from the sky and they often come down to attack. They will also have the ability to release mines in the future.
These monsters are unaffected by Smoke Grab, Telekinesis, Petrification and Triangulation.
¶ Creepers
Creepers are monsters that only appear in Sector Five.
They can attack Lyokowarriors with lasers, but they also have the ability to climb walls and follow you around Sector Five.
¶ Core Attack
As of the Uncharted Territory update, XANA can attack Lyoko's Core in Sector Five.
When the attack is launched, monsters will spawn in the Core chamber and will start attacking the Core's shields. Once both shields are gone, the heart will be vulnerable. If it is destroyed, it will lead to a game over. (Lyoko will still be there once you come back)
Xanafied players can launch Core attacks by attacking it, which will spawn monsters in the chamber.
¶ Tower Attacks
Tower attacks happen every 6 to 12 minutes. Different attacks have different requirements to be launched, one of them being the player amount needed.
If a return to the past is launched, the risk of XANA ignoring the player count when launching an attack goes up and goes down whenever an attack starts.
Towers activated by xanafied players using Code XANA do not count towards the max amount of towers XANA can have.

¶ Software Attacks
Software attacks have a 60% chance to happen every 5 minutes. They target the Supercomputer's software and do not activate any towers.
They can be fixed using the Software Debugger in Sector Five's interface and then using the Diagnosis Program in the lab.

¶ Player & XANA Levels
Players have levels and experience associated with them, which will be reflected in their experience bar. The maximum level a player can have is 20, while the minimum is 1.
XANA's level controls how many attacks it can trigger at once. It's calculated based on the average level of the players online. Players can gain levels deactivating towers and stopping core attacks.

¶ XANA Awareness
XANA Awareness represents how much the world is aware of XANA's existence.
You can check awareness using the Threat Control Program at the lab's interface or using the laptop.
Once awareness reaches 100%, warriors will have limited time to launch a return to the past to prevent Lyoko from being discovered, which would lead to a game over.
Certain tower attacks rise awareness slowly, but it fades away gradually if nothing is happening. The return to the past also brings awareness back to how it was at the point in time you are sent back.
Awareness is also shown through the news program as they will be talking about the paranormal events that have been happening because of XANA.
