The Scyphozoa is a dangerous and massive Monster with no offensive abilities.
When encountering it, you will be inflicted a fear effect that will make it near impossible to escape the Scyphozoa. However, once you are freed, you will have a high chance of obtaining the Knowledge that will make you immune to the effect.
If a warrior grabbed by the Scyphozoa is released while above the digital sea (or high enough above the ground in general) or at the celestial dome, a Manta will spawn to save them. It will be a XANA Manta if the warrior was Xanafied and a Hopper Manta otherwise.

The Scyphozoa has a unique spawning system compared to other monsters, as players can boost their chances to encounter one by playing. However, it can not appear while there is only one player in the Lyoko Faction online.
Within Sector Five's maze, it has a 5% chance of replacing a monster ambush.
In the celestial dome and other sectors, the chance is decided by the amount of towers you have deactivated (+5% until it caps at 75%, also counts if you were only near the tower when it was deactivated), only for the next ambush you encounter since the last tower deactivation (even if you were not the one who deactivated it). If you haven't deactivated any towers or the first ambush did not have a Scyphozoa, it will temporarily revert back to 1% until a tower is deactivated again, re-enabling your chance boost.
If a Scyphozoa spawns using the chance boosts, they will be cleared, while they will only be halved otherwise.
Destroying a sector using Code XANA after being xanafied by the Scyphozoa will instantly raise your chance boosts back to 50%.
Once the Scyphozoa has caught its target, it will start draining away their avatar protections. The Memory program will also open automatically. The draining process takes three minutes.
It is possible to save the victim by attacking the monster, although the more progress the Scyphozoa has made, the likelier it is for the victim to still suffer the effects of its draining. Once the Scyphozoa's tentacles are cut, it will automatically die after a few seconds.
There are three different effects:
